This page includes resources from both sessions offered on August 21st.  If you come across other resources that you think would be helpful to share with others, please email me using my APS email address.

General Resources

Principles for Interactive Whiteboard Lesson Design and Implementation

  • Download a handout here.
  • Watch videos of some of Jon’s earlier PD sessions about SMART Board use and the Principles.

Providing Feedback

  • Download a plethora of sound effects at freesound.org (free registration required)

Content

  • There are many lessons (some better than others) available on the SMART Exchange.
    • You need a free account to use the SMART Exchange site.  Be sure to log on at the BEGINNING because you cannot download lessons without logging in, and you will lose your place if you have to back up to log in after you find a lesson you want.
  • There are many images available (though not all are public domain) on Google Images.
  • One way people can specify how their works can be used (like a copyright) is through a Creative Commons license.  Be sure to understand and respect these licenses when using images, sounds, and other resources.

Helping Students to Access Materials at Home

Polling Software

  • Teachers can register for free accounts with Poll Everywhere that will allow them to poll up to 40 users for a given question.

Other Assorted Tutorials

  • Naomi Harm has a tutorial that is rather detailed.  If you are feeling overwhelmed by it, skip to the later pages which focus on the more typical day-to-day activities.  BEWARE of the advertisements on the right side of the page.  You don’t want to download junk unintentionally.
  • I’ve watched snippets of these tutorial videos (but not in their entirety), and they seem good.  They will not work on iPads or iPhones, however.
  • We found this tutorial video about SMART Notebook’s print capture tool during our break.  It may be helpful to you!
